An Irish tragicomedy with music
For the first time in Portugal we are proud to be bringing you a scintillating production of this ground-breaking play with its poignant love story set against the background of the comic goings on of a dilapidated Dublin boarding house in 1959.
A young man is due to hang in Belfast. In reprisal the IRA take a young English hostage prisoner. He is taken to a safe house in Dublin. But that house turns out to be a run-down brothel where the shenanigans are endless, the inhabitants as ready to break open a bottle of stout or into song as deal with the matter in hand. Amidst the confusion a tender love affair blossoms between the cockney soldier and the convent-educated country girl who works there. Come along to find out how it all ends!
